WHAT'S NEW
Well, well...  What is new with me?  Many people have been asking what's new with me and I'm sorry it took so long to update the site, but here's the scoop..   Lately I have been working like crazy and am paying my mortgage and taking care of the bills and am very thankful that this has been such a busy year.  I haven't worked so much since I've been here so keeping busy is very good for me right now.

As far as music..back around late June, I was practicing with a very good band getting ready to do some shows at a venue out here and we were to be the house and only band there.  The place was so cool, very rustic / country decor.  After several weeks of practice, the band was sounding really good and we're getting excited about working together, then as quick as things fell into place, things fell apart.  Basically we lost the building (I guess personal things to do with the owner) and we were left hangin'.  Since then, there were a few other options, but one of them burned down and the other didn't pay enough money.  The guitar player, I think, since then has maybe latched onto a steady gig with a guy he was doing studio work on for his cd, which I don't blame him for not passing up. I haven't heard from any of them for a little while, so I guess the band that was, will never be...  ???  I don't know.  They were VERY talented and nice people, but I'm just not really sure what happened.  Man, I was so looking forward to vocalizing on a steady basis again. I had a couple of other opportunities to sing every weekend but the timing wasn't good..that's when my Mom was not doing well at all and things didn't work out with the clubs either. A lot of changes going on.  I would love to and actually need to get a band formed.  Music is good for the soul and a huge release for me.  I wouldn't be opposed to getting some work on The General Jackson.  They have dinner shows..it would be fun I think. Something different for a change.  Some ideas I'm throwing around. We'll see what the new year brings.

My singing career has been kind of on hold because of my Mom's health, so I really haven't been aggressive at all out here.  She told me many times that she would feel terrible if I passed up any opportunity or missed out because I was taking care of her and staying close to home, but she soon found out that she was the only thing more important than my singing..that's saying alot for how close we were!  I know she appreciated me being near and it makes my heart feel good to have been able to care for her.

Now that I have time to focus on me, I will see what I can do.  I've met a few writers that have had some cuts by major artists and I plan on touching base with them again and doing some more writing. Write some good enough, maybe get some Bluebird Cafe action going. ;O)    I get out to sing some and am planning on going out more often. I know a few people with studio's out here, so hopefully I'll get in to do some demo work..    Networking is key to success out here.  If you don't get out and make it happen, it won't!  I haven't been enough, so it hasn't.. Between working the 'day job' and getting back into music, I'll have a balance again in this, "new" chapter in my life.  There will be some changes in my 'day job' and my music for the new year, so stay tuned and I'll keep you posted on what's going on in Lory Lynn Land.. :O)
